Assessments are essential for both teachers and students. They are a way for everyone to see the areas of strengths and weaknesses. This is crucial data to ensure the lessons are going in a way that meets all learner's needs. A variety of assessment types allows for assessment of student learning and for student success (Stiggins, Arter, Chappuis, & Chappuis, 2004). Research shows that a wide range of modes and the use of formative feedback can improve learning and achievement (LRSC, 2005). This website provides the reader with detailed information on the various assessment tools, their strengths and weaknesses, and the role technology plays in the assessment. Please be advised that these assessments can fall under multiple assessment category types, it is dependent on how the teacher chooses to administer and use the assessment.
